Castellar de la Frontera to Los Barrios, June 03

Out the door at 6:30, because this was to be a longish day:

Some cows were already up:

Some were not:

It started out as a pleasant country walk, but by 8:15 I had had enough drama for the rest of day.

This fence was LOCKED as in with a padlock:

It was not too too terrible to climb over because my boots fit into the wire squares.  But it was pretty high and there was a barking dog, fortunately, tied up. I don't like climbing over high fences.

Then, not too long afterward, there was ANOTHER that was locked!

It wasn't as high but it was more difficult.  (This view is the "after" side.)  I had to deal with that canvass shmattah that was hanging there and the metal cord that entangled my boot, and the fence was shaky, AND there was a row barbed wire on top.  I wasn't sure I would be able to manage it, but I did.  Very unnerving.

There were many many gated fences today.  Por ejemplo:

At least all the others had a way of letting one get to the other side even though sometimes that required taking off the pack and passing it through separately.  There was also a major set of railway tracks to traverse...maybe five sets of tracks, no pedestrian walk way, either.

A big hunk of the walk was on an asphalt highway 👎  A bit of shade here and there helped, and I had a book to listen to, reserved for situations such as this.

A couple of cats—they do not have to worry about fences— taking the sun:

Los Barrios is a small city, not particularly attractive.  Hotel, sort of an oy affair: toilet and sink broken (workable with a gentle touch), stained upholstery, burn holes in furniture, no blankets, room right over huge parking lot. However,  just a few minutes away was a Mercadona (major supermarket), so I ate well today: a roll with lox, cream cheese, onion, tomato and watercress.  Delicious!
