No tears shed on leaving the very shabby Royal Oak in Welshpool! (I have many more adjectives in my arsenal, but will refrain from using them.) However, the bed and breakfast we are at tonight is absolutely lovely: a bright airy room, a small settee in front of the window overlooking the hills, all comfortable and ever so pleasant. Loving it!
Today, I took the ODP, but Alex and Alex took the Montgomery Canal all the way. They missed the tricky exits from fields, of which there were a few! Both routes were flat as a pancake, the only such day along the path.Walking through a mown field is a lot easier than walking through high grass
And over on the other side, fields and flowers:
Since there is no X this sign may mean that you ARE allowed to take a canoe or some such into the water:
But if you plan on exiting the canal path, well, danger lurks again:
Part of ODP also went along the canal:
Alex, who has been researching the Montgomery Canal like crazy, discovered that six boats are allowed in the canal at a time, provided that you have gotten a permit, of course.
